Natural language processing (NLP) is a form of AI that extracts meaning from human language to make decisions based on the information. Natural language processing is behind the scenes for several things you might take for granted every day. When you ask your AI assistant for directions or to send a text, natural language processing enables that functionality. This technology is still evolving, but there are already many incredible ways NLP is used today.

In this tech talk, we will start with understanding of what NLP is and its pipeline. After that, we’ll go through an example on how to integrate structured and unstructured data to generate recommendations using Watson Natural Language Understanding and Watson Studio on IBM Cloud. This example is a configurable yet scalable HR recommendation process that will help in merging the different data sources and expedite the decision making process.
