Mandy Chessell talks about her 30+ years working in technology at IBM, from working in assembler on mainframes using “screens with not very much color” to the era of the internet, mobile phones, and the prevalence of technology in people’s lives. She discusses some emerging trends in technology and the importance of open source in the technology arena. Finally she talks about her latest project ODPi Egeria, which is itself an open source project. She describes ODPI Egeria as a tool for creating catalogs or spreadsheets of data sources in a company and understanding their provenance, quality, and data governance requirements.
