Todd Moore and Chris Ferris discuss some follow-on thoughts from their panel with Ginni Rometty. They wanted to discuss the concept of “giving back” to open source in the context of the individual developer. Todd notes that this is an example of the “virtuous cycle.” Enterprises and developers who contribute build value more quickly. Developers benefit because they are building skills and learning to solve new problems. He notes that they are building their resumé out in the open.” Chris builds on that idea saying that today your C.V. is your github history. He also notes that it helps with job mobility and gives developers more opportunities to shape their careers.
Todd Moore is Vice President of open Technology. Chris Ferris is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and CTO for Open Technology.
