What is edge computing?
Learn from Rob High, IBM Fellow and CTO, about the basic concepts and key use cases for edge computing
What is edge computing? Edge computing is a distributed computing framework that brings enterprise applications closer to data sources, such as internet of things (IoT) devices, or closer to local edge servers. With edge computing, you place workloads as close to where the data is being created and the actions are being taken.
In this video, you learn how containerized workloads in the hybrid cloud get distributed via 5G networks to edge servers or edge devices, which now have the compute capacity to work on the data at the edge. One of the key benefits to edge computing is improved security by protecting the data in the right place and the right time.
