What is multi-access edge computing (MEC)?

Multi-access edge computing (MEC) is a networking architecture standard that enables cloud computing and IT services at the edge of cellular networks and more generally at the edge of any network. MEC is a set of services running at the edge of a network and performing specific tasks, at low latency, that would otherwise be processed in centralized infrastructures.
