In July Dave Vines blogged about our Liberty Buildpack for Cloud Foundry. Today, I am excited to announce we have contributed the IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty Buildpack to the Cloud Foundry community. You can find it on GitHub at https://github.com/cloudfoundry/ibm-websphere-liberty-buildpack.
In the cloud, the focus is on configuring applications and not servers. You want to achieve maximum scale for your application workloads. Liberty is designed for application-centric cloud workloads. The server runtime can be configured to only use what each application needs. The result is maximum scale as you can pack more servers into less space.
You can read more about today’s announcement in Rachel Reinitz’s guest blog on Cloud Foundry. You can also learn more about BlueMix. BlueMix is an implementation of IBM’s Open Cloud Architecture, leveraging Cloud Foundry to enable developers to rapidly build, deploy, and manage their cloud applications, while tapping a growing ecosystem of available services and runtime frameworks.
We hope you give the Liberty Buildpack a try today. To help you get started, you can find our documentation on GitHub. There is a also a video to help you get started on our WASdev YouTube channel that you can watch here:
