What is IBM Eclipse Tools for Bluemix?

Building on the existing Cloud Foundry Integration for Eclipse, IBM Eclipse Tools for Bluemix is tailored for IBM Bluemix.  With these lightweight tools, deploying your applications to IBM Bluemix is a breeze.

The tools allow you to deploy your JavaScript, EAR, WAR, and Liberty Profile packaged servers to the Bluemix server right from your Eclipse IDE or WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools.  They also allow you to create and link services to your application, define environment variables as part of  the deployment, seamlessly support IBM Bluemix, and work with other Cloud Foundry servers.

You already have your application running in Eclipse using WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools with Liberty Profile?  No problem.  You can just install the tools on top of WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools and deploy your applications by adding them to the IBM Bluemix server in the workbench.  Thanks to the unique feature of Liberty buildpack for packaged server support, you also have an option to deploy the entire Liberty Profile server to Bluemix.  That’s how easy it is.  Finally, you can even deploy your favorite JavaScript applications to Bluemix.  You’ll be amazed by how easy it is to deploy applications to the cloud with these tools!

  1. Hi Elson,

If the connectivity to Internet uses a HTTP Proxy, is the proxy setting via the standard Eclipse preferences?
    i.e.
Window -> Preferences -> General -> Network Connections

I thought so but would like to get your confirmation.
    Thanks a lot!

Yes, you should be able to do the proxy setting using the standard Eclipse preferences.

      • Hi,
I was unable to connect IBM bluemix using eclipse tools.
It says ‘Unable to validate Cloud URL: http://xxxx due to 404 Not found‘ And I was able to connect using browser and was able to connect internet using eclipse(I mean able to download updates with same Network connection settings)

        Any help highly appreciated!

        Thanks
