What’s in the WebSphere Liberty beta for November?

Extensions to Liberty JDBC features

The jdbc-4.0 and jdbc-4.1 features are enhanced to support configurable custom initialization of new connections and validation of pooled connections. You can configure one or more onConnect elements under a dataSource specifying SQL commands for one-time initialization of newly established connections.

You can configure the validationTimeout attribute of dataSource to cause connections to be validated per the java.sql.Connection.isValid (timeout) API before they are reused from the pool. This can help reduce the number of connection errors seen by applications.
