1. Install WebSphere Developer Tools into Eclipse for Java EE Developers (Oxygen) by dragging the Drag to your running Eclipse workspace to install WAS Liberty Developer Tools button onto the Eclipse toolbar.
  2. Download the runtime from within the tools, or choose from one of these downloads here (requires Java 8):
  3. Start the server using:
       bin/server start

Installing additional features on the beta

To optionally install additional features (e.g. Java EE Full Platform or the Admin Center):
  1. In a terminal, change to the installation location of the Liberty runtime.
  2. Run the installUtility command (located in the wlp/bin directory) with the name of the feature; e.g. (for the Java EE Full Platform features):
       bin/installUtility install javaee-7.0
  3. Or to install all the features required by a configured server:
       bin/installUtility install 
  4. (For help with the installUtility command, type installUtility help.)

Installing features from a local copy of the beta repository

  1. Download the current beta repository.
  2. Run the installUtility command for the feature that you want to install:
     installUtility install ejb-3.2 --from=/wlp-beta-featureRepo-2017.9.0.0.zip
