Developed in response to user feedback, the Smart Navigator feature debuted in Social Program Management in Version 7.0.5.
Improving the caseworker’s day
Our caseworker users told us that they found it cumbersome to find their way around the application. Often, they took multiple clicks and pages to get to where they wanted to go.
Experienced caseworkers found this a real pain point. A caseworker might have a client on the phone and would need to spend valuable time focusing on the system – searching for the client, finding the client’s case, navigating to the case, and then navigating to the outcome plan- and not on the client.
For new caseworkers, this was a serious drawback- they could get lost in the application and become discouraged and frustrated- with morale-impacting consequences for the team and the agency.
The Social Program Management team responded to this cry for help with Smart Navigator- a easy way for caseworkers quickly find what they need and get to it fast. Now, from anywhere in the application, a caseworker can use in the Smart Navigator Search box to search for and navigate to predefined persons, pages, or tabs. As the caseworker types, the search results appear and are refined.
Search criteria include person name- in multiple formats; Alternative ID, such as social security numbers or other identifiers; and most importantly, search targets and keywords. Search targets and keywords are a real time saver for caseworkers. Search targets are predefined application pages or tabs, for example, Integrated Case. Keywords are groups of one or more words that users use to navigate directly to search targets, for example, integrated, integrated case, or person search.
A caseworker who is talking to a client, John Doe, about his application can find his application case and navigate directly to it by typing John Doe application in the Search box. The search returns results for all persons that are named John Doe and shows any application cases for each. The caseworker can open the application case from the search results, saving valuable time and maintaining focus on the client- not the system.
Customizing the Smart Navigator
So that your agency can quickly see the benefits of Smart Navigator, it works out of the box on these application views.
However, we know every agency is different, so the OOTB features are customizable so that the unique working practices of every agency can be catered for. You can customise Smart Navigator to include the key words and navigation links that your caseworkers need.
Improving the developer experience
Our human-centred approach includes improving the experience of our CĂşram developer community. So the team have ensured that developers are able to customize the Smart Navigator feature as easily and quickly as possible.
Developers can add new search targets and keywords, so that caseworkers can navigate the application workflows that are important to your agency.
