The IBM Certified Associate Business Process Analyst – Cúram Social Program Management V7.X certification is intended for business analysts, consultants, testers, and anyone who would like to acquire foundational IBM Social Program Management knowledge required to work on implementation projects. The IBM Certification Program assists in laying the groundwork for your personal journey to become a world-class Social Program Management resource to your customers, colleagues, and IBM, by providing you with the appropriate skills and accreditation needed to succeed.
For an overview of the certification, see this IBM page: https://www.ibm.com/certify/cert.html?id=58000205
Here are the main high-level steps required to earn your certification:
1.) Take the 40-hour business analyst (BA) training course.
2.) Thoroughly study the materials from the training course.
3.) Register for the certification exam.
4.) Take and pass the certification exam.
Here is some ADVICE that should help you prepare for and pass the exam:
1.) Try to take the exam approximately 2-4 weeks after completing the training course. You need to allow yourself time to study, but if you wait too long after the course, you’ll start to lose some of what you learned. Keep in mind that anything in the course manual is fair game for an exam question, but try to focus on the main ideas and details of each lesson.
2.) Read the Certification Overview lesson from the training course manual so you fully understand the structure and content of the exam.
3.) The “Review the Concepts” questions within the training course are an excellent baseline to test yourself. Do NOT take the exam until you can answer all of the in-course questions from memory.
4.) There are websites and apps that can help you create flashcards – an excellent way to test yourself.
5.) When you’re taking the exam, be sure to read all of the information on the screen. For questions that have multiple answers, you should see some kind of indication telling you how many answers you should select, for example “Select two” or “Which three…” Use these indicators to help you select or eliminate some of the options.
6.) This may sound obvious, but make sure you register for the correct exam. There are different exams for v6.0.5 and v7.X. You should take the exam that corresponds to the training manual you studied.
7.) Sample exam questions can be found here: https://www.ibm.com/certify/exam.html?id=C7010-014. Also, Pearson VUE offers what’s called an “assessment test”, which is basically a practice exam. The assessment test is roughly the same difficulty as the actual certification test. You can take the test right on your computer, and you don’t need a proctor. There is a fee for this test (usually $30). Taking the assessment test is a good way to see if you’re ready for the actual certification exam. To register for the assessment test, look for the category “Assessment: IBM Watson Health” in the list of available tests on the Pearson VUE website.
8.) After you complete the exam, you will receive a score report showing how you performed in each of the three tested sections (see the “Sections and Topics” slide in the course manual). If you don’t pass the exam, this report can help identify the areas that need more attention before you try again. (By the way, if you take the exam a second time, you might not receive the same 71 questions as on your first attempt, but the topic percentages will be the same.)
