Conduct a risk and control assessment using OpenPages and WalkMe

Organizations rely on risk and control assessments (RCSA) to determine the risks experienced by various departments, such as Human Resources. IBM OpenPages can perform both qualitative and quantitative assessments of your departments and processes.

In this tutorial, you will use a qualitative methodology to record a risk’s likelihood and the degree to which it will impact your business, and then evaluate the effectiveness of your controls.

IBM OpenPages uses WalkMe, a third-party tool that's integrated with OpenPages to deploy custom content and provide guidance to new users. Through guided tours, feature overviews, and embedded resources, WalkMe helps users make the most out of their OpenPages implementation.

Note: WalkMe is integrated and enabled with OpenPages by default. You do not have to install it if you have access to OpenPages.

Steps

To conduct a risk and control assessment using IBM OpenPages and the WalkMe tool, complete the following steps:

1. Log in to IBM OpenPages.
2. In the OpenPages menu bar, click the WalkMe Menu button.
3. In the Guided Tours tab, select Conduct a risk and control assessment. The tour launch page opens.
4. Click Get Started. A window opens asking you whether you want to assess a sample risk or create a risk. Click Assess a sample risk.
5. In the OpenPages dashboard's Risk Management panel, click on the Risks Awaiting Assessment number to choose a risk to assess.
6. From the list of existing risks, click the Staging Risk to open it.
7. In the Understand the risk window, read the information about the Staging Risk and then click Next.
8. The tour guides you through the risk's description, categorization, and scope. Click Next to advance.
9. When you have reviewed each element, click Next to start the assessment.
10. In the Staging Risk window, click the Action button and select Start Risk & Control Self-Assessment. To confirm, click Continue and close tab.
11. In the risk details window, the Inherent Risk Rating is displayed. Scroll to review additional risk details, including mitigating controls and their effectiveness.

You have now completed the risk and control assessment using the OpenPages WalkMe guided tour and sample risk.
