Transforming automotive supply chains with Catena-X certified IBM Envizi solutions
Learn how IBM Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence module, in collaboration with Catena-X, German Edge Cloud, and Infosys, enhances sustainability and efficiency in automotive supply chains
At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Jeff Schlageter, General Manager of Global Manufacturing and Distribution Industries at IBM, announced that the Supply Chain Intelligence Scope 3.1 module of the Envizi Suite was on track for certification within Catena-X—a data space designed specifically for automotive manufacturers to enhance their value chains through optimized data exchange and integration.
Today, we are proud to announce that the Supply Chain Intelligence Scope 3.1 module of the Envizi Suite has officially achieved full certification within the Catena-X ecosystem. This milestone demonstrates that our solution fully complies with Catena-X principles, including data sovereignty and interoperability. It also enables us to provide our Supply Chain Intelligence Scope 3.1 module capabilities on the Catena-X marketplace.
Our collaboration with German Edge Cloud and Infosys has been instrumental in this achievement. Their expertise in data integration, automation, and software development has significantly enhanced the functionality and performance of the Supply Chain Intelligence Scope 3.1 module within the Catena-X framework. Additionally, IBM’s Ecosystem Engineering team (EESI Labs) worked closely with Infosys and the Envizi SCI product team to successfully deliver the roadmap for Catena-X network connectivity.
IBM’s commitment to sustainability and data transparency
IBM's Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) 3.1 module of the Envizi Suite has achieved full certification within the Catena-X ecosystem, based on the ONCITE Digital Production System (DPS) from German Edge Cloud. ONCITE DPS was the first market solution to achieve Catena-X certification, providing companies in the automotive manufacturing sector with seamless access to the Catena-X ecosystem.
This collaboration ensures that our joint offerings consistently meet the high standards set by Catena-X, delivering exceptional value to our customers. For the automotive industry, this certification offers immense benefits:
Seamless integration: By integrating IBM's certified PCF 3.1 module into digital ecosystems, businesses can ensure trust and peace of mind in the system's performance.
Secure collaboration: Catena-X certification guarantees that only trusted and certified solutions like ours can operate in the marketplace, fostering a secure and collaborative environment.
Enhanced decision-making: By leveraging advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and IoT technologies, businesses can optimize supply chains, improve efficiency, and make data-driven decisions using accurate, real-time data.
Decarbonizing supply chains with Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence
IBM Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence enables organizations to decarbonize their supply chains by providing Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) performance dashboards, work queues, rule builders.
These tools offer detailed insights into product and supplier PCF values compared to defined category thresholds. By enhancing data quality and accessibility, organizations can make informed decisions, proactively manage sustainability objectives, and increase accountability across the supply chain.
Benefits of Catena-X standards for supply chains
Catena-X standards offer a scalable framework to meet evolving business and sustainability demands, ensuring relevance and effectiveness. Key benefits include:
Market differentiation: Managing PCF effectively and aligning with recognized standards can position organizations as sustainability leaders, attracting environmentally conscious customers and partners.
Sustainability alignment: By meeting these standards, businesses can achieve sustainability targets while staying competitive in the market.
The role of data mapping in the Catena-X ecosystem
In the automotive sector, integrating Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence into the Catena-X ecosystem streamlines the flow of critical data. This integration ensures that essential data types from Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence are accurately mapped to meet Catena-X standards, enabling seamless collaboration and compliance across the network. Key data types include:
Compliance data: Contains all necessary compliance information required to meet Catena-X standards. Ensures regulatory adherence throughout the supply chain.
Product data: Shares specifications such as material numbers, product names, and detailed descriptions. Enhances product visibility and fosters collaboration between automotive manufacturers and suppliers.
Organizational data: Provides critical information about suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders. Facilitates improved communication and transparency across the supply chain.
Why is this integration necessary?
The integration of IBM’s Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence with Catena-X is not just about streamlining processes and tracking carbon footprints; it also delivers several key benefits:
Streamlined processes: By standardizing data and processes, the integration reduces inefficiencies and improves response times to disruptions in the supply chain. This results in faster decision-making and better adaptability to market changes.
Enhanced sustainability tracking : Both Catena-X and Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence are built around sustainability goals. This integration helps businesses track, report, and meet sustainability metrics, ensuring they stay in line with regulatory requirements and exceed customer expectations for eco-friendly practices.
Market differentiation: Organizations that successfully manage PCF within the Catena-X ecosystem and align with global sustainability standards gain a competitive edge. By adopting these solutions, companies can differentiate themselves as leaders in sustainability, attracting environmentally conscious consumers and partners.
Unlocking new opportunities for the automotive industry
This milestone is more than a technical achievement—it signifies a crucial step toward a more sustainable and data-driven future for the automotive industry. By integrating Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence into their digital ecosystems, automotive manufacturers can:
Align operations with global sustainability goals.
Optimize supply chains for enhanced efficiency and profitability.
At IBM, we are excited to deepen our collaboration with German Edge Cloud and Infosys, driving innovation and creating new opportunities for businesses worldwide.
